Collection: Game Boy Family

Nintendo's first handheld game console, the Game Boy, landed in North America in the later half of 1989. It was a massive hit selling just under 119 million units. It's rivals didn't stand a chance. The Game Boy only took a couple weeks after it's release to sell through a million systems. Even though Sega and Atari dropped cooler looking, color screen handhelds, the GB prevailed. It is still sought after to this day and widely considered a cultural icon. The fun doesn't stop there. Game Boy gave birth to a long family of successors. The Game Boy Pocket, Color, Advance, Advance SP, and Micro all followed suit and made Nintendo the masters of handheld systems.
